BIOGRAPHY
Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson are a trio of brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma who form the band known as HANSON. They have been making music since the ages of 11, 8, and 6. They hit the big time, contracting with Mercury Records, who released their first world-wide album "Middle of Nowhere". Their first single "MMMBop" hit the charts and became a smash hit for the trio following with "Where's The Love?," and "Weird", and "I Will Come To You." This embarked their first world tour called The Albertane Tour in 1998, recording a live album from this tour in Washington D.C.
After the tour, HANSON headed straight into the studio to record their next anticipated album. During this process, Mercury Records was bought out by Island Def Jam. In May 2000. HANSON released "This Time Around" through Island Def Jam with their first single "This Time Around" following with a popular hit "If Only," and "Save Me". They embarked on a big promotional tour playing free acoustic shows and another world tour in 2000 to 2001.
In early 2002 HANSON headed back to the studio to create their third anticipated album. They decided this time to film the process of creating their album to release a documentary "Strong Enough To Break" in hopes of showing their dedicated fans what it is like to go through creating an album. Conflict arose between HANSON and their new label, Island Def Jam. It was a constant creative struggle between them and Island Def Jam's, Jeff Fenster. The documentary took an unexpected turn. Instead of showing fans what it's like to go through the creative process of making an album, it turned into revealing the strong arm of commerce verses creative freedom. Out of this process came the title song "Strong Enough To Break," which is now available for free on iTunes .
After a year of struggle and dozens of rejected songs for a new album, HANSON broke away from their contract with Island Def Jam to create their own independent record label, 3CG Records . 3CG Records is based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Though it means more work for the fellows, forming their own label has allowed HANSON to have creative freedom as artists, producing music that is true to the nature of the band.
The first album HANSON recorded and released from 3CG Records was "Underneath Acoustic." HANSON invited fans into The Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma to participate in a live, acoustic recording of songs from their fourth and independent album, "Underneath" later to be released in 2004 with their first single "Penny & Me." Their fourth studio album debuted at #1 on the Independent Albums charts. HANSON embarked on one of their biggest world-wide tours called The Underneath Tour.
Not only was HANSON taking off in their careers, but in their personal lives to. Isaac (26), Taylor (24), and Zac (21) are now all married. Isaac is a father of one, Clarke Everette Hanson and Taylor is a father of three, Jordan Ezra Hanson, Penelope Anne Hanson, and River Samuel Hanson.
In 2005, HANSON geared back up into the studio to create their latest album "The Walk." During their recording process, HANSON took a trip to Africa hoping to find some way to help raise money for the AIDS epidemic. What better way than to use their own music? HANSON took their music to Africa with them recording with an African childrens choir. The song "Great Divide" was released on iTunes in November 2006 for .99 to help raise money for the Perinatal HIV Research Unit based in South Africa. All proceeds from the song is donated to help the AIDS epidemic. HANSON also released a "Great Divide" t-shirt on their official HANSON.NET store where all proceeds went to help Perinatal HIV Research Unit.
HANSON filmed another documentary "Taking The Walk" to show the creation process of "The Walk" up until the release of the album. "The Walk" was released in 2007 debuting at #4 on the Independent Album Charts with their first single "Go". They kicked off their tour in the fall of 2007.
After breaking free from the strong hold of America's corporate music world, HANSON has chosen to walk their own path. The band is more true to themselves and their fans than ever before.
